We got so lucky, and found this eagle directly. There were a lot of eagles and herons, and most of them didn't sit around for pictures.
An eagle's nest!
This heron was in the brush next to the creek, and as we passed got up and flew right past our faces. He's right in the middle of the picture, flying away.
For reference, the hawk or eagle above is high up in a tree, and the people on the ground only appear about twice as big. He was camera shy.
